Major crime and incident report

9:01 a.m.: weather complaint, Dartmouth Street, a caller reports that there is flooding in an area of Dartmouth Street, the responding officer reports that the Department of Public Works was contacted to take a look at the area, the officer reports that there was approximately one foot of standing water with some water coming up through the storm drains which he believes is due to the flooding of the culvert where the drains are supposed to empty, the DPW reports that the water level dropped slightly and would only require monitoring at this time;
2:30 p.m.: motor vehicle breaking and entering, Lockhouse Road, a caller reports that she was walking her dog and returned to find her vehicle’s window smash and items stolen from the vehicle, the responding officer filed an incident report;
4:01 p.m.: accident, Whitaker Road, a caller reports that a vehicle struck a pole, causing damage to the pole and bringing down wires, the responding fire captain reports that the pole was cracked and out of the ground, the responding medics report that one person refused medical attention, dispatch reports that Westfield Gas & Electric responded to the scene to address the pole, the responding officer reports that one tow truck was requested to remove the vehicle from the scene.
8:52 a.m.: escort, South Longyard Road, a citizen requested, and received, a police escort to retrieve items from a residence;
5:45 p.m.: larceny, College Highway, a purse was reported stolen from a grocery store cart.
