WESTFIELD

12:45 a.m.: noise complaint, Lincoln Street, a caller complains of loud neighbors, the responding officer reports 6-7 persons were listening to music which was not unreasonably loud at the targeted address who agreed to turn it down when advised of the complaint, see next entry;
1:06 a.m.: noise complaint, Lincoln Street, a caller complains that his neighbors turned the music back up when the officers left after the previous call, the responding officer reports the area was silent (except for noise from an air conditioner at another residence) when they returned and found the tenants cleaning up after their gathering;
12:32 p.m.: animal complaint, South Street, a caller reports he took custody of a stray peacock the night before and has confined it in his chicken coop, the responding animal control officer reports the bird was transported to the municipal animal shelter;
12:48 p.m.: community service, Broad Street, a Community Service Unit officer report he participated in a church’s confirmation parade;
1:14 p.m.: larceny, Main Street, a resident came to the station to report the his stimulus check is missing, the responding officer reports the resident said that the check was last seen in his back pack which has not been out of his possession, the call was referred to a Community Service Unit officer;
2:16 p.m.: city ordinance violation, Whitney Playground, Shepard Street, a Community Service Unit officer reports he encountered a family of four swimming and picnicking at the playground and advised them of the pertinent city ordinances, the officer reports the family members were cooperative and left the area, the officer also contacted a Parks and Recreation Department employee to suggest signage improvements at the playground to mitigate similar activity;
2:29 p.m.: city ordinance violation, Whitney Playground, Shepard Street, a Community Service Unit officer reports he encountered a male party drinking from a small container which he concealed when he saw the officer, the officer reports when he man stood he revealed a small empty bottle of alcohol, a city ordinance violation citation for drinking alcohol in public was issued;
4:25 p.m.: officer wanted, Lincoln Street, a caller reports 30 persons at a neighboring house are not following social distancing guidelines, the responding officer reports about 15 persons were found at a college-aged gathering, the host agreed to adhere to the guideline and to keep the noise down;
8:57 p.m.: fire, East Mountain Road at Holyoke Road, multiple callers report a fire under the turnpike overpass, dual response dispatched, the responding firefighters report a brush fire underneath both sides of the overpass, a State Police dispatcher was asked to divert traffic from one of the eastbound lanes while the firefighters worked, the fire was extinguished;
9:36 p.m.: noise complaint, Lincoln Street, a caller complains of loud music at a neighboring house, the responding officer reports the music was not loud but nonetheless the tenant agreed to lower the volume when advised of the complaint.
