Major crime and incident report

1:18 a.m.: unwanted guest, Franklin Street, a caller reports that he had a couple of friends over who then proceeded to invite approximately 50 more people without his permission, the caller reports that the people are refusing to leave his home, the responding officer reports that the house was cleared of people and all parties dispersed;

2:10 a.m.: accident, Cleveland Avenue, a caller reports that a vehicle struck a pole and possibly rolled over, the responding medics report that the vehicle was unoccupied upon their arrival, the responding officer reports that Alexander Martin Smith, 22, of 182 Bates Road, Westfield, was located and placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and a marked lanes violation;

2:47 p.m.: animal complaint, George Street, an animal control officer reports that they will be picking up a stray short-haired tuxedo-patterned cat and transporting it to the Westfield Regional Animal Shelter;

6:08 p.m.: threat to commit crime, Kellogg Street, a caller reports that he and his friend were walking down Kellogg Street when a male party unknown to them said that “if he saw them walking on Kellogg Street again, they would not be walking again,” the caller reports that he believes the statement to have been racially motivated, the responding officer reports that an area search turned up negative, the officer reports that the caller was advised to call police again if there were any further issues, the officer reports that he advised them also to remain away from Kellogg Street to avoid future problems.



No major incidents took place in Southwick on this date.
