1:41 a.m.: suspicious vehicle, a patrol officer reports he observed a parked vehicle he could not see into because of tinted windows and when he approached the operator exited the car amid a cloud of smoke the officer recognized as burnt marijuana, a passenger also exited the vehicle and was eventually identified, both were issued city ordinance violations for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and for smoking marijuana in public;
2:06 a.m.: fire, Meadow Street, a caller reports seeing smoke coming from the windows of a building, dual response dispatched, the responding firefighters report finding a fire in an outside fire pit which was extinguished, no fire was found to be inside the residence;
5:07 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Franklin Street at Kellogg Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop for speeding revealed that the operator’s driver’s license was suspended, Michael A. Korchevskiy, 20, of 235 Woodland Way, Russell, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and for speeding at a rate exceeding the posted limit;
10:21 a.m.: animal complaint, Apple Blossom Lane, animal control officers report they responded to a report of a cat and kittens in an unoccupied house, the ACOs report they transported six kittens to the municipal animal shelter and set a trap to capture their mother;
3:10 p.m.: breaking and entering, Franklin Street, a caller reports her back door was forcibly opened while she was away for a few hours, the responding officer reports the caller showed him her porch door which had been kicked in but there was no evidence that any attempt had been made to enter the actual residence, the caller does not require a formal report but wants the incident documented;
6:05 p.m.: breaking and entering, Powdermill Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports two boys have been in a recently vacated apartment for about 40 minutes, the responding officer reports that he looked through a window and saw two boys who came out when he ordered them to, the boys identified the apartment where they lived and the officer escorted them there where he informed their father what had happened, the officer reports the man was upset with his sons and went to the apartment in question with the officer to ensure no damage had been done, the boys were surrendered to parental discipline;
11:23 p.m.: breaking and entering, Pochassic Street, a caller reports her former boyfriend broke into her house and stole money, the responding officer reports the victim said that a former boyfriend who had stolen from her in the past made forcible entry into her home and was seen in the driveway carrying what appeared to be a bag of stolen property, the case was referred to the Detective Bureau.
