1:12 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop for speeding revealed that the operator was intoxicated, Stephen G. Carmel, 29, of 60 Franklin St., Apt. 15, Westfield, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and speeding at a rate exceeding the posted limit;
8:52 p.m.: accident, North Road, a caller reports a car crashed into a pole and the operator is bleeding, dual response dispatched, the responding officer reports the operator was transported to Baystate Noble Hospital, the tree which was struck was found to be cracked and in danger of falling, a DPW worker was notified;
9:02 a.m.: fraud, Lisa Lane, a resident came to the station to complain that her checking account was compromised, the responding officer reports that the woman said that she applied on-line for a loan and an excessive deposit was made to her checking account, the woman said that she was asked to return the surplus using gift cards and she became suspicious, the account was closed;
5:33 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Western Avenue at Westwood Drive, a patrol officer reports he observed a vehicle operating without a front registration plate and stopped it, the operator was found to be the subject of an active warrant issued in 2019 by the Chicopee district court and he was found to be in possession of marijuana packaged for sale, Tygee Ramos, 21, of 668 Parker St., Springfield, was arrested for possession of a Class D drug with intent to distribute and on the warrant;
6:58 p.m.: fire, Springdale Avenue, a caller report heavy smoke in the area, the responding firefighters report residents were found to be burning a large pile of brush and said that they did not know about burning restrictions, they were advised of the pertinent regulations and firefighters extinguished the fire;
11:20 p.m.: accident, North Road a caller reports a vehicle struck a utility pole and overturned, dual response dispatched, the responding officer reports the operator was transported to Baystate Noble Hospital, the pole was found to be broken and the roadway was closed, the car was towed to the police impound yard and one lane was reopened for travel at 12:19 a.m.
