9:46 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Holland Avenue, a crossing guard reports an uncleared sidewalk, the responding officer reports he spoke with a tenant who said she will remind her landlord of the need to shovel the sidewalk;
12:29 p.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, an animal control officer reports a resident brought a stray male domestic short haired tabby cat to the shelter;
1:33 p.m.: larceny, Main Street, a caller from a Main Street supermarket reports a female shoplifter has been detained, the responding officer reports store staff reports the woman used the self checkout lane and scanned merchandise valued at $419 but did not make payment before she left with the groceries, Christina Leigh Nava, 32, of 134 Union St., #83, Westfield, was arrested for shoplifting by asportation;
3:19 p.m.: larceny, Beveridge Boulevard, a caller reports that his security camera has captured video of his neighbor stealing cat food which was left on his porch by animal control officers as bait to trap stray cats, the responding officer reports he spoke with the suspect who said that he stole the food to prevent his cats from being trapped, the man returned the food and was advised of the consequences of any future trespasses on his neighbor’s property;
3:47 p.m.: assist other police department, Main Street, Montgomery, State Police request a K-9 unit to assist with an investigation, the responding officer reports he and his K-9 partner were able to establish a track for the troopers;
4:21 p.m.: larceny, Springfield Road, a caller from a Springfield Road department store requests assistance identifying a shoplifting suspect, the responding officer reports the suspect was identified but the store management declined to pursue criminal charges;
6:35 p.m.: assist resident, Green Avenue, a person came to the station to keep an appointment made by the domestic violence coordinator to gather possessions from an address he is barred from by a protective order, the responding officer reports the man gathered his property without incident;
6:45 p.m.: disturbance, Summer Street, a caller reports a man who is the subject of an active warrant is involved in a disturbance, the responding officer reports the man was found on Franklin Street and a warrant issued in 2019 by the East Brookfield district court was confirmed, Bruce J. Charpentier, 32, of 1246 Granby Road, Chicopee, was arrested on the warrant;
8:04 p.m.: arrest, Klondike Avenue, officer detailed to seek the subject of outstanding warrants issued in 2016 and 2018 by the Springfield and Chicopee district courts was located, John E. Ryan Jr., 55, of 193 White St., Springfield, was arrested on the warrants.
