Major crime and incident report

10:07 a.m.: animal complaint, East Mountain Road, a caller reports that there is a brown and white dog running loose in the area, the responding animal control officer reports that no dog could be located;

10:21 a.m.: arrest, George Street, a police detective reports that he requested marked units to respond to George Street, a responding detective reports that Donald Heenan, 64, of 23 George Street, Westfield was placed under arrest under an active warrant and for charges of possession of a firearm without a firearms identification card, possession of a large capacity firearm, and possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card;

10:49 p.m.: breaking and entering motor vehicle, Dox Road, a caller reports that somebody had attempted to break into her vehicle, leaving the car alarm sounding and the trunk open before they fled, the responding officer reports an area search turned up negative.


10:32 a.m.: animal complaint, Depot Street, an unlicensed dog was reported;

12:45 p.m.: illegal dumping, College Highway, a church pastor observed dumping on church property, a vehicle registered in Connecticut operated by a male party threw trash in the church dumpster, the pastor asked Southwick Police to contact the owner and advise against dumping trash there;

3:58 p.m.: larceny, College Highway, Southwick police assisted Westfield police with a stolen vehicle;

5:20 p.m.: paper serves, Depot Street, a restraining order was served in-hand at the police station;

5:45 p.m.: officer wanted, North Lake Avenue, a resident spoke with an officer about ongoing harassment from a neighbor regarding a contractor dispute, the reporting party stated the neighbor threatened his wife and when he advised the subject to leave and pursue the matter in court he responded that “he was not afraid and mentioned he had guns,” according tp the police report.
