9:18 a.m.: motor vehicle accident, George Street, a caller reports that she was driving behind a city vehicle when a metal rack fell out of the back and damaged her vehicle, the responding officer filed an accident report;
9:51 a.m.: larceny, Franklin Street, a caller reports that her neighbor stole a package and mail off her front porch, the responding officer reports that video surveillance confirmed the accusation, the officer reports that he spoke with the neighbor and convinced her to give the package and mail back to the caller and that no further action was required;
12:24 p.m.: warrant service, Pleasant Street, police officers and detectives report that they are executing a warrant on a Pleasant Street convenience store, the officers report that Bhikhabhai C. Patel, 53, of 17 Kaolin Drive, was arrested for possession of more than 12,000 unstamped cigarettes, selling more than 12,000 unstamped cigarettes, and tax evasion;
2:42 p.m.: animal complaint, East Main Street, a patrol officer reports that he discovered that a dog was left inside a vehicle in an East Main Street parking lot while it was 71 degrees outside, the officer reports that the windows of the vehicle were part way down and the dog appeared to be fine, the officer reports that the vehicle owner was located and advised to leave someone in the car with the dog or to not leave the dog in the car at all.
