WESTFIELD – Westfield Post 124 is as hot as the weather.
Westfield won its third straight game, routing West Springfield 13-1 Thursday night at Jachym Field to improve to 3-1. Post 124, since a 3-2 season opening loss to Easthampton, has outscored the competition, 21-1.
Matt Irzyk (3 Ks) pitched a complete game for Westfield, scattering seven hits over seven innings. Post 124 helped him out with four double plays.
Evan Moorhouse went 3-for-4 with a bases-clearing double and two runs scored, and Rob Sullivan (double, run) and Jeremy Tanguay (2 runs) each finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
Westfield scored four runs in the fourth inning, and blew open the game with seven more in the fifth. Post 124 returns to action this evening against Aldenville Teddy Bear Pools at Jachym Field at 5:45 p.m.
