WESTFIELD-Current and prospective members of Friends of the Westfield Athenaeum, as well as the general public, are invited to attend the annual meeting on Sept. 26.
The gathering, slated from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Athenaeum’s Whitney Study, begins with light refreshments during a reception at 6:30.
Agenda items will include the nomination and election of new officers and board members, and a review of the Friends’ activities, events and financial contributions to the Athenaeum during the past year, according to Bill Westerlind, president, Friends of the Westfield Athenaeum.
“We will also discuss our current membership campaign and our upcoming plans and activities to support the many free programs and services offered by the Westfield Athenaeum,” said Westerlind.
The Friends group, a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, has raised more than $186,000 since its inception in 1996 to support programs and services including the Museum Pass Program, Rosetta Stone Language Learning Program, and the Boys & Girls Building Blocks Club. The group has also raised funds for computers and new technologies. Additionally, books are purchased for the Boys & Girls Reading Clubs and support is extended to the children’s and adult summer reading programs.
