On Monday morning, August 6th, at about 6:30 am, my stepson was traveling west on North Road in Westfield when a car coming the other way suddenly swerved over into his lane, right in front of him, to avoid driving thru an unpaved but driveable patch of roadway. This vehicle ran my stepson off the road, where he sideswiped a power pole, knocking off the passenger side rear view mirror and sending glass shards into the car, hitting him on the side of the head and neck. Our family dog was also in the car, and he was slightly hurt. Damage was also done to the front fender, wheel, and the steering gear. As of now our car is undriveable. Nobody, starting with the reckless driver of the vehicle that caused my stepson’s accident, or the cars following, stopped to see if he was all right or needed help. The vehicle behind my stepson, likewise, just drove right by him and kept on going. To the person who caused this accident and just kept on going, and all of you who were witness to what happened but chose to put on blinders and keep on driving: How would you feel if this happened to you or a family member?
