PulseLine, August 29, 2012

Please be advised that Governor Patrick has ordered that the United States flag and the Commonwealth flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings from sunrise until sunset on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 in honor of U.S. Army Major Steven Brothers of Arlington, Massachusetts who died May 30, 2012. This gubernatorial order applies to: 1. The main or administration building of each public institution of the Commonwealth, e.g. town and city halls. 2. Other state-owned or state-controlled buildings. 3. All state military installations.

What is with the EXTREMELY LOUD train horn almost every morning at 6AM??? I’m pretty sure it’s coming from Service Star or Arch Rd.

Hi. I’m wondering if any other PulseLine readers have been bombarded with calls from Regional Card Member Services asking to consolidate their credit cards and being treated very rudely. I have asked them to not to call anymore and I am on the do-not-call list; but they still call. I’ve filed a complaint with the Westfield Police Department. What do I do? Thank you.

It’s hard to believe that drug addicts can get a free ride to the methadone clinic in Springfield to get their methadone but, being in a wheelchair and confined to my house, my medical doesn’t cover transportation to my doctor’s office since I can’t drive anymore. Unbelievable.

What’s going on with your paper? First you stop putting in the telephone number for the PulseLine and now you’ve stopped the Lost & Found section. What’s next? Keep this up and no one will be buying The Westfield News. Also, since when did you start running “Help Wanted” ads in the PulseLine? Thank you. You may have seen our response to your PulseLine question in Monday’s paper. As for the Lost and Found, if nothing has been reported as either lost or found then there is nothing to print. Let me get this straight, our reporters work very hard to get you news about Westfield, Southwick and the Hill Towns that you can’t get anywhere else, yet your biggest concern is about  the PulseLine phone number and the Lost and Found listings?

What happened to the winning lottery numbers that you used to put in the paper? They are there.

I was wondering when the Westfield Police are going to do something about the Class 3 child molester that walks down Meadow Street drunk all the time. I’m a parent of young children and would appreciate it if the police did something about him. If this person is breaking the law then please contact the Westfield PD.

Does Westfield have a jaywalking law? In Westfield there is  city ordinance 17-293, which states in part, “Whenever there is a marked crosswalk within 300 feet of a pedestrian, no such pedestrian shall cross a way or roadway except within the limits of a marked crosswalk.” That being said, police are not generally detailed to enforce this ordinance. If an officer witnesses a violation then he/she may issue a citation. For more on this visit: http://library.municode.com/index.aspx?clientId=11700

Recently the Westfield Bridge Club had the honor of celebrating with Marion Wirth her 100th Birthday! Marion lives at the American Inn and plays bridge every week. Thank you to Fred Gore of The Westfield News who photographed the event.

Who’s the idiot that designed the crosswalks in downtown Westfield to be used as speed bumps? The raised crosswalks were designed specifically to slow traffic through the main downtown corridor.

Good morning, Southwick. I hope you are having a good day because your educators and your assistants in the school system are not. They are getting a very hard time this year, especially with their paychecks, even before school starts. Could it be because they balked at the insurance plan the School Committee tried to shove down their throats, secretively? Think about it…
