Recently, I was able to coordinate a visit with family, in Westfield, to coincide with the Babe Ruth League World Series. While at the Series I was able to reflect on my early years playing baseball in the playground league, Little League, Babe Ruth League, High School, and American Legion. When I was also able to play 4 years of college baseball my coaches always commented that the strength of my game was that I “knew how to play the game.” Those fundamentals were a direct result of the outstanding baseball programs available in my hometown. The people of Westfield should be very proud of this program. Finally a word of thanks to all those volunteers, who throughout the years, have made Westfield baseball the outstanding program it is today.
