What is going on at the site of Ashley St. School? They have it all set up with plastic tarps and generators running. Its been tarped up and protected all weekend. Looks like a chemical spill. Is this anything the neighborhood should be worried about? If this is asbestos, why wasn’t it cleaned up before they tore the building down? There was a small amount of floor tile mastic and floor tile that was adhered to the concrete slab that could only be accessed after the building was dismantled. The affected area of concrete slab was contained in a negative pressure enclosure and the remaining material was removed in accordance with state and federal regulations. Abatement was completed Monday and the slab is to be removed later this week.
