Hi! A picture of a heavy-duty articulated snow blower was in Saturday’s issue of The Westfield News.  How much did this cost? Considering we live in New England, it’s probably a good purchase.  A few years ago, Westfield purchased a hot patch machine.  I thought that this machine’s purpose was to heat the cold patch so that patch jobs for pot holes would last at least until the asphalt opens in April.  We know we are going to have many pot holes this spring.   Answers, please, from somebody who cares about their tax dollars.  Thank you.The Westfield Public Works Department still owns the hot patch machine.  It is only used in the early spring when the asphalt plants are open, to patch random potholes.

Dear PulseLine, The Concerned Citizens of Russell have been able to stop new industry from moving into our town! It took them six years of three hour public hearings on the proposed biomass plant to kill the project! They managed to drive Texon Paper Co out of town by passing an anti pallet burning bylaw! They recently tried to stop future industry from moving into the former Westfield River Paper Co site by having it called an aquifer. They have decided that the Westfield River now is drinking water, with a sewer plant sitting in the middle of it! On Tuesday March 26th The Russell Planning Board will have a public hearing on rezoning Woronoco. It is expected that the CCR backed planning board will continue this hearing until public participation drops off and then they will kill this project also! It is believed that most of their meetings are held at The Russell Inn where town business is decided, (a violation of the state’s Open Meeting Law!)

Hi! I was just reading the article about the fire that was out there at the General Shepard apartment complex and the lady that passed away.  Well, a couple of us ladies were sitting in the driver’s room this morning at work and were talking like a while ago they had little emblems you could put on the window for how many dogs or cats, or a child’s bedroom.  What would be very nice and maybe something for these apartment complexes to consider would be make a sticker to be put on a door or a window of an apartment where the individual is in a wheelchair or maybe a walker or you know, one of those symbols, that you could like just stick on.  I think it would be a lot of help to the individual themselves or the fire and police department.  Maybe you could think about it? It was just so sad reading that in the paper.  I thought this would be something nice to help the elderly. OK.  Thank you and I sure hope this makes the paper.
