In my opinion Tracy Cesan has been doing a fantastic job since she was elected as a selectman last spring.  For the first time in recent memory she has kept her promise to keep the citizens of Southwick informed as to what is going on in town. This apparently ruffles the feathers of the “Good Old Boys” (Pinell and Fox) and so they are doing everything within their power to bug her and make her life difficult.  I’d just like to say: “Keep up the good work, Tracy – the majority of the townspeople are on your side and appreciate what you are trying to do.”

Ok ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!! Can someone please tell us when Drug Store Hill bridge will be started? Chicopee is a year ahead of schedule with their’s and West Springfield had a temporary one built in two weeks. What is Westfield’s problem? I think us folks on the north side have suffered long enough!!! I say we don’t pay our taxes until it’s done!!!

As a resident of my community I would like to express my frustration about the “conflict” surrounding the issues concerning our board of selectmen. Our newest member of this board has had nothing but road blocks set in front of her since she was voted into this position, which, by the way, was a majority vote of the citizens of Southwick. The hostility she endures from her fellow board members and other town employees is unnecessary and a pure example of bullying behavior. It speaks volumes of their character, including that of Ms. Hickey who seems to favor the way in which Mr. Pinell has kept order during these meetings. My now that is an important quality. Just know that there are lots of eyes and ears around the town hall and your antics have not gone unnoticed. I truly hope that Ms. Cesan will not succumb to the obvious agenda put forth by all of these individuals. No one should have to work in such a hostile environment and we should be so lucky that Tracy Cesan has remained strong thus far. She has my continued support. I cannot say the same for the other two selectmen.

Are you kidding me?  I have to put up with all these Scott Brown annoying ads on the 6 o’clock news and now I get an Application for an Absentee Ballot attached to a Scott Brown ad in my mail?  I called City Hall about this and they referred me to Galvin’s office and I asked if this was legal or not and his office verified that it was.  Galvin’s office didn’t like it but it was legal and my complaint would be frivolous until they changed the law.  The offering of an absentee ballot application with a commercial on it just seems wrong.  I’m wondering what Mike Knapik and Don Humason, our local pols, think of this absentee ballot application law and whether attaching an ad seems to be some type of conflict of interest.  Any response? Senator Knapik offers this reply: Mailing absentee ballot applications to eligible voters is a commonly-used tactic by campaigns of all parties and scopes.  In 2008, the most recent Presidential election, over 27 percent of registered and eligible voters in Westfield failed to cast a ballot.  In non-Presidential years, the number is much worse.  There is much blame to go around as to why voter participation is so meager, and some of it is rightfully borne by the candidates.  In this case, the candidates are working hard to mobilize support and communicate the importance of this fundamental democratic responsibility.  Please, if you are out of town or physically unable to go to the polls on November 7, take out an absentee ballot and exercise your right to vote.

Please support Westfield High School Drama club by joining us as we perform “The Man Who Came to Dinner”. Show nights are November 1, 2 & 3 @ 7:30pm in the High School Auditorium.
