Raymond W. Broderick, 95, (1921-2016) passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Springfield to the late Harold and Gladys (Lubas) Broderick. Raymond served his country with the United States Army during World War II from 1942-1946. Attaining the rank of Tec 5 he received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. He was the co-founder/co-owner of Viamari’s Restaurant in West Springfield for 36 years and he retired from the Mass Turnpike after 12 years. Ray was a communicant of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Westfield, a member of the Sons of Erin and American Legion Post 124. He enjoyed golfing and fishing and enjoyed his Morgan horses. Ray was predeceased by his beloved wife Rita A. (Viamari) Broderick and two daughters, Mary Theresa Broderick and Linda A. Scribner and her late husband William Scribner, his brother Harold Broderick and sister Winifred Wynne. He is survived by his loving children, Raymond K. Broderick and his wife Tina, Theresa M. Broderick-Hathaway and her husband William Hathaway and Thomas M. Broderick and his wife Gina, all of Westfield, his seven cherished grandchildren, William, Candace, Holly, Matthew, Lyndsey, Michael and Shannon, one great granddaughter, Chase and several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9AM from the Firtion Adams FS, 76 Broad St. Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 127 Holyoke Rd. Westfield. Burial will follow the mass in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Rd. Westfield, MA. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 3-7PM in the funeral home.
