BOSTON (AP) — A deadline is at hand for residents who wish to register for municipal elections being held around the state next month.
The registration deadline is today and Secretary of State William Galvin says city and town offices in communities where elections are scheduled for Nov. 5 will remain open until 8 p.m. to accommodate eligible voters. The Westfield City Clerk’s office is at its temporary location of the Westwood Building, 94 North Elm Street, on the 4th floor.
The Boston election will pick a successor to Mayor Thomas Menino, who is retiring after more than 20 years in office.
More than 50 other communities, including Westfield, are also holding municipal votes, and a special election is scheduled to choose a new state senator in the 2nd Hampden and Hampshire District.
In addition, referendums on casino proposals are scheduled on Nov. 5 in the town of Palmer and in the East Boston neighborhood.
