Westfield

Rep. Velis: Thank You, Westfield!

THANK YOU WESTFIELD!
Hi everyone, I’m excited to start up my weekly columns again to inform you of various happenings both here in Westfield and down in Boston. With the election over, I’m looking forward to being your State Representative for a full term.
I’d like to start by saying thank you to everyone for their support, both in April and this past Tuesday. My friends, family, the volunteers, and my supporters who came out for me through the past year of campaigning made this victory possible. I’d also like to thank Dan Allie for his dedication to the community through the democratic process.
With the campaign behind me, I’m eager to continue forming relationships with constituents and strengthening current relationships with this city’s leaders. Westfield is at an amazing time in its history – we’ve come a long way in a short period of time, but we still have a lot of work to do.
In fact, rather than taking off for a vacation after two back-to-back campaigns for the position of your State Representative, I spent the latter half of the week attending meetings and events to further Westfield’s progression. The day after the election, I was honored to attend a presentation to the Commissioner and Vice President of the Babe Ruth Baseball League. Westfield has the unique opportunity to be considered to host the Babe Ruth World Series, an opportunity that would bring national attention to this great city. I look forward to doing anything I can to make this dream a reality.
I also attended a ribbonacutting at Alessio’s Pizza this week. This restaurant is already a hot spot even though it’s only been open for less than a month. On Friday, I attended the Checkpoint 2014 Legislative Symposium along with Congressman Neal, the Speaker of the House, and esteemed colleagues from western Mass. that serve in the House and the Senate, including Senator Humason. It was a very informative forum on the work the Legislature has accomplished, as well as the legislation we will tackle in this session. Things are looking very good for western Mass. and I’m looking forward to working with colleagues from both sides of the aisle to make sure western Mass. has a seat at the table.
In other news, I’m also excited to be coaching basketball for Parks and Recreation this winter… we plan on taking it all this year!
In conclusion, I’m eager to begin my full term as your voice on Beacon Hill. Thank you again for your support and trust in me as your State Representative. As always, please contact me with your questions and concerns. You reach out to me on my cell phone at 413-627-8722, or email me at [email protected] or my aide Neesha at [email protected].
