Good morning Westfield! What a week we’ve had here! Let’s get to it.
This has been a very exciting week in the City of Westfield and it’s set to continue through the weekend! As I am sure most of you know, the 14 year old Babe Ruth World Series is in town. It has been incredible to watch the hard work of so many people come together over the past few days.
I want to take a minute to thank everyone who had any hand in making this event possible. From the countless volunteers, to the sponsors, to the umpires, coaches, teams, families and everyone in between. Without each of you this spectacular event would not be. I spent a few hours down at Bullens Field on Thursday afternoon volunteering and attending the opening ceremony. It was truly wonderful to experience the culmination of the hard work of so many.
It is so easy to get caught up in negativity we see and hear day in and day out. Events like this one are a refreshing and much needed reminder that it’s not all bad news. So if you haven’t made it down to Bullen’s Field I highly recommend you do! Whether you volunteer or catch a game, you will have a great time.
Also on the docket for Westfield this weekend is the 6th Annual Kevin J. Major Memorial Hockey Tournament. The hard work and planning that has gone into this tournament is outstanding. The tournament started yesterday at Amelia Park Arena and will continue through Sunday. I’ll be heading down this afternoon for the opening ceremony.
All proceeds from the tournament will benefit KEVS Foundation. Through education, public access to free screenings, and the distribution of equipment, KEVS Foundation works tirelessly to prevent Sudden Cardiac Arrest. I hope to see many of you over at Amelia Park supporting this cause!
That’s all for this week Westfield! As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns at john.velis@mahouse.gov or my district office phone 413-472-392
