WESTFIELD: Richard A Davio, of Westfield, died, unexpectedly on Monday, January 12th at home. He was born and raised in Chicopee, MA where he was a graduate of Chicopee High School, and excelled as an all state varsity football player. Born on October 16th, 1959 in Holyoke, Mass, son to the late Richard and Pauline (Carrigan ) Davio. Richard was a long time employee of the Chicopee School Department, where he took great pride maintaining Bellamy Middle School. Mr. Davio was an avid New England sports fan, most passionate about his beloved Red Sox. In his leisure, Richard could often be found reeling in the big one or scouting for the next great red tail hawk. Spending time with and spoiling his granddaughter Jocelyn, brought unmatched joy to his life. Joss will forever miss her Pepe. In addition Richard leaves behind his stepsons John and James Yarasavych, both of Westfield, and their wives Renee and Kelly, respectively. He leaves behind sister, Michelle Bessette of Shippensburg PA and was predeceased by his wife Marcia (Anderson) Davio and a sister, Maureen Obbema. He also leaves behind his favorite nephew, Eric Bessette of Glendale Arizona, who spent many summers enjoying fishing with Uncle Richard, along with nieces Beverly, Renee and Nicole. The funeral for Richard will take place on Saturday January 24th at 10:30 am from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Calling hours will precede the service on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30 am. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
