Richard M. Lefebvre, age 84, devoted husband of 62 years to Mary E. (Reader) Lefebvre was called safely Home on March 20, 2022.
Born in Willimansett Chicopee to Dora (Valliere) and Rene Lefebvre, Richard was predeceased by his sister, Claire McDevitt.
He will be remembered as a loving husband and father. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Debra (Rocklin, CA); son, Steven, and daughter-in-law, Linda (Feeding Hills, MA); three grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Richard served our nation in the U.S. Navy at the Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island, and during the Lebanon Crisis as an aircraft mechanic aboard the carrier USS Wasp. He went on to work for the Westfield Fire Department for 32 years in a variety of roles – as a Firefighter, EMT, trainer, equipment, and vehicle contract negotiator, and finally as the Superintendent of Vehicle Repair. Richard was known to all as a hardworking and conscientious man who was quick to offer a smile and a helping hand. He will be greatly and widely missed.
While only at the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home for a short time, the family is extremely grateful for the exceptional and compassionate care that Richard received.
