WESTFIELD – Robert Gogol, 71, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 6, 1941 to the late Stanley and Mary (Laptew) Gogol.
He was a lifelong resident of Westfield and attended local schools. He worked for Stevens Paper Mill then was drafted into the service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked for Jen-Coat Inc. for 28 years and retired in 2008. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Pitch League and was a member of the American Legion Post #124. He enjoyed gardening and his most enjoyment came from spending time with his grandchildren.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, MaryJane (Boylan) Gogol; his children, Deborah Daniels and her husband John, John Gogol and wife Donna, Stephen Gogol all of Westfield and Gregory Gogol and wife Marcy of South Chatham, MA. He also leaves his grandchildren, Andrew, Caitlin and Molly Daniels, Patrick, Ethan and Nora Gogol, Alexander Gogol and Megan and Emma Gogol; his siblings, Joseph Gogol of Granville, Susan Jensen of Westfield and Linda Snider of Wyben. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward Gogal.
The funeral for Robert will be held on Monday, December 31st at 9:15 a.m. from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:15 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
