WESTFIELD – Ronald H. Ferron, Sr., 90, (1934-2024) of Westfield MA passed away peacefully on January 22nd, 2024 in the company of his loving wife, Sophie, and dear friend, Phil Cranford. He was born on January 7th, 1934 in Southbridge MA to the late Elise and Henry Ferron. His brothers Robert and Roger and sisters Vivian and Aline preceded him in death.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Sophie (Swiatek) Ferron and his three children: William (Amanda) of Springfield MA, Elizabeth McClung (Robert) of Salado Texas, and Natalie of North Palm Beach Florida. He was predeceased by his son, Ronald H. Ferron, Jr. in 2005.
He was also the proud Pepere to his seven beloved grandchildren: Nicholas, Charles, Emily, and Rose Ferron, Matthew and Katherine McClung, and Benjamin Germano, as well as one great-grandson, George Bailey Ferron. He also leaves behind several dear nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ronald was a graduate of Assumption Preparatory School in Worcester where classes were taught in French, the language of his heritage. After graduating from high school, he began his career as a machinist. He worked at Advance Manufacturing for several years before opening his own business, Center Machine, in Ludlow. Ronald will be remembered as a generous employer and honest businessman.
He was a passionate fan of all New England sports teams and a devoted parishioner of Holy Trinity Church. He also loved playing golf and watching harness horse racing. He lived in Jupiter Florida for more than 25 winters and enjoyed many summers in Old Orchard Beach Maine. We will fondly remember his sense of humor, quick wit, and “joie de vivre”.
The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Baystate Hospice and Armbrook Village for their exceptional care during the last days of Ronald’s life.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 31st at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Church, 335 Elm Street, Westfield at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place in Southbridge MA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Holy Trinity Church or Baystate Hospice.
