Rosa Mottola

WESTFIELD – Rosa Mottola, 87, (1937-2024) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 20th, 2024. Her loving sister-in-law, Elvira, stayed by her side and cared for her so she could remain in her home. She was born in San Giorgio, Del Sannio, Benevento, Italy to the late Giacomo and Vincenza (Barone) Mottola and attended schools in Italy.

Rosa emigrated from Italy in September of 1972 and settled in Westfield, MA. She was employed as an assembler for Old Colony Envelope for many years and retired in 1999. Rosa was a former member of the Stalla Italia in Springfield and enjoyed shopping in the South End of Springfield. Rosa loved spending time with her brother, sister-in-law and their children for weekend dinners and holidays. Every birthday dinner the family requested her crème de menthe cake, which was the best. She loved making homemade Italian cookies and sharing them with family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling with friends. Rosa was a longtime communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Westfield.

She was predeceased by her brother Sabato Mottola, and her sister Anna Colicchio.

She is survived by a brother Maurizio Mottola and his wife Adele in Italy, her sister-in-law Elvira Mottola in Westfield, and her brother-in-law Michael Colicchio in Italy. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews, Giacomo Paul in Chicago, AnnaMaria in Agawam, Mark and Michael in Westfield. Nicola, Maria, Stefania, Giacomo, Gianluca, and Francesco in Italy. She also had great nieces and great nephews.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024 with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, Bartlett Street, Westfield followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Road, Westfield. Visiting hours will precede the Mass from 9-10:30 a.m. in the Firtion Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield MA 01085. www.firtionadams.com
