TWIN LAKES, MI – Roy Edward Sampsel, 59, of Twin Lakes, Michigan, passed away September 23rd, 2023, after battling metastatic brain cancer.
He was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on May 7th, 1964. He graduated from Gateway Regional High School in 1983. A few years after graduating he studied at New England Tractor Trailer Training for his CDL.
In high school, he developed a love for playing the guitar. That love for music carried on throughout his life in which he had a vast collection of music and always had the latest stereo system to play the music. Once he obtained his Driver’s License and began working on cars, he discovered his love for the open road which led him to the career in truck driving.
Roy is survived by his parents, Gloria LaBonte and Shawn Sampsel. He is also survived by his partner Shari Ann Johnson, who was by his side to the very end. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Jo-Ann Perry. His children are Samantha Sampsel, Sarah Sampsel, and Steven Sampsel. He is also survived by his brother William Sampsel and his sister Vickie Murphy. He also had many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
He is loved by many and will be missed and will forever be in our hearts.
