WESTFIELD – Ruth L. Cooling (1924-2022), 98 of Naples Florida for 46 years and many happy years spent living in Chatham, MA, Longmeadow, MA and Westfield, MA, passed away September 4, 2022. Ruth was born in Collingswood, NJ January 13, 1924. She was married to her husband Robert for 73 years, who preceded her in death six years ago.
Ruth was devoted to her family’s needs. She relocated many times in support of her husband and their growing family. While living in Westfield, MA, she helped in the construction of their family home out in the country. She and her husband farmed 4 acres to provide for their family. Ruth and Robert were active in the Westfield Methodist Church and loved playing bridge with their friends. Ruth was also active in the Women’s Club and she loved playing her violin. In her later years in Florida, she and Robert were active in the Naples Methodist Church and Lakewood Country Club where they played golf and bridge.
Ruth was a loving mother of seven sons and one daughter. She is survived by Robert & wife Pam, John & wife Susan, James & wife Martha, Jeanne & husband David, William (Pella), and daughter-in -laws Anne (Norman) and Linda (Paul). She had three sons and two daughter-in laws precede her in death; David, Paul, Norman, Carolyn and Pella. Ruth was also predeceased by her only sister, Jeanne and her husband Norman Beaver. Ruth is survived by numerous grandchildren (11), great grandchildren (21), and extended family too numerous to list.
No services are scheduled. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
