WESTFIELD – Sara (Abrams) Landis, 100, (1922 – 2022) was born in Chicago, IL to the late Boris and Betty (Chernofsky) Abrams on February 12, 1922. Her family later moved to Brooklyn, New York, where Sara spent most of her life with her parents and brother, Murry. In 1942 Sara was married to Irving Landis by Cantor Richard Tucker, who later became a famous opera singer with the Metropolitan Opera. Sara and Irving raised their two children, Shelley and Allan in Brooklyn. While in New York, Sara worked for the NYC Board of Education in Brooklyn. In later years, she moved to Boca Raton, Florida where she spent 20 years before moving to Arm Brook Village in Westfield, MA. Sara had a passion for opera and regularly attended performances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. She was proud to have met Luciano Pavarotti, the greatest tenor of his generation. Her late husband also sang with the NYC opera.
Sara is survived by her devoted daughter Shelley and son-in-law Dr. Richard Holzman of Chester, son Allan of NYC, grandchildren, Jason Moss and his wife Kimberly of Glendale, CA, Erica Eckman and husband Jeffrey of Belmont, MA, Jessica Lopez and husband Dr. Enrique Lopez of Albany, GA, Lana and Elliot Landis of Marietta, GA and five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ava, Sophia, Jackson and Mia.
A Graveside Service was held at Eastman Cemetery, Bromley Rd., Chester at the Holzman Family plot. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Arm Brook Village for their devotion and care to Sara.
