SOUTHWICK – The Franklin Land Trust is still seeking teams to join in the 3rd Annual Save North Pond Golf Tournament. Taking place on Sunday at Agawam Municipal Golf Course, all of the proceeds will be going towards helping preserve North Pond.
Currently, there are 15 teams signed up and the hope is to have 10 more teams sign up by Sunday morning.
“It’s not too late to come out and play,” said Mary Lynn Sabourin, the Development Director at Franklin Land Trust. “Your $95 not only buys you a fun day of golf including greens fees, golf cart, dinner, and a chance to win these prizes, but also the knowledge that a portion of your registration fee goes towards conserving the last remaining undeveloped wilderness on North Pond.”
The tournament starts at 1 p.m. and will feature 18 holes of golf with four players on each team. It costs $95 per player or $380 per team. Interested individuals will be able to register online on the Save North Pond website. Dinner at The Buccaneer Lounge will follow after the golf tournament and include a silent auction and raffle.
The prizes include a pontoon boat from Saunders Boat Livery for a hole-in-one as well as a round of golf for the person that gets closest to the pin.
The Franklin Land Trust are also seeking sponsors for the golf tournament. A hole sponsor costs $200 and includes a sign on the tee box or green. A bronze sponsor costs $1,500 and includes two players, a golf cart, dinner, and a sign on the green. The silver sponsor will cost $2,500 and four players with two golf carts, dinner, and two signs on the green. The gold sponsor will cost $5,000 and cover six players with three golf carts, dinner, and four signs on the green.
Previously, the first two Save North Pond golf tournaments reached about $20,000 each in fundraising and Sabourin is looking forward to this year’s upcoming tournament.
Anyone interested in playing in the Save North Pond Golf Tournament can call Sabourin at 413-625-9151 to register. People can also register by downloading the registration form on the tournament page on the Franklin Land Trust website. Sabourin also added that at least 15 more volunteers are needed for assistance with registration, raffle, and prizes.
Currently, the Franklin Land Trust and North Pond supporters have to raise about $1.5 million by June 30, 2019. Despite that, Sabourin would like to have the fundraising finished by December 31, 2018.
