WESTFIELD – Reports on Tuesday of a school bus driver skipping stops led to that driver being prohibited from driving in Westfield.
Westfield schools Superintendent, Stefan Czaporowski, noted that after an employee of Lecrenski Bus Service deviated from their afternoon route on Tuesday in a manner inconsistent with expectations, he requested they no longer drive for Westfield.
“As soon as we learned of the situation, we acted immediately. Our priority is picking up and dropping off our kids safely,” Czaporowski said, adding, “We have a right in our contract to say we don’t want this driver. I thought that was the right thing to do.”
Lecrenski Bus Service, which is subcontracted by the City of Westfield School Department to transport students to city schools and home again, would not provide any additional details on the incident.
