Scott M. Desmond

SOUTHWICK – Scott Michael Desmond, 60, (1956-2017) died suddenly at his home April 25, 2017. He leaves his love, Eve Crampton, as well as a sister Susan Desmond Corey and her husband Donald.  A nephew, Kris Corey and a niece, Katey Corey. Born July 13, 1956, he was a lifelong resident of Southwick, MA.  He was a graduate of Southwick High School and Greenfield Community College. He was the son of the late Donald R. Desmond and the late Loretta MacDonald Desmond of Southwick. Scott lived his life to the fullest, and found great joy in a variety of activities.  He had a great appreciation of all genres of music and dancing.   He loved gardening and using the fresh vegetables and fruits in his cooking.  He loved doing Sudoku puzzles and would time himself on how quickly he would complete the challenge.  He enjoyed reading the newspaper first thing in the morning while having coffee with Eve and sharing articles of interest.   Party planning and presentation were a specialty for him; who can forget his elaborate Halloween displays and dress up parties.  His Kentucky Derby party, Fourth of July BBQ’s bonfire and fireworks display, and of course his amazing Christmas trees along stunning holiday decorations. He welcomed everyone into their beautiful home, meticulously built and designed by them.  He also reveled in being a prankster and telling jokes, devising new games with the kids.  They all loved him. He was an accomplished athlete with a love of the outdoors; snow skiing, bike riding, mountain climbing, hiking, swimming and dirt biking were a few of his favorites.   He had a true eye for detail, putting up a tree swing, planning garden areas, setting up bird feeding stations, and designing water falls.  He had a true understanding of the environment, and it showed in everything he created. He also had a full career life engaging in landscaping, a foreman for sprinklers systems installation, professional dance instructor, orderly at Noble Hospital, and a general sales background prior to becoming a licensed real estate agent and working with Eve on maintaining their numerous properties.  His true lifetime passion however, was the study and collection of rocks and minerals.  He went on many digs all over the country and had many unique specimens that he loved to share with young and old.  He was a member of the Ct. Valley Mineral Club and was looking forward to joining in their many activities this year.  He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.  Visiting hours will be held at Avalon Life Celebration, 691 College Highway Southwick, MA  on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 4-6 P.M
