Search warrant yields suspected drug stash

WESTFIELD – A warrant served at 9 Fowler Street yielded a large variety of drugs from a repeat offender.
Police went to the Fowler Street apartment near 5 p.m. Thursday to execute a search warrant.
The Westfield Police Department K9s were not available, so Southwick Police Officer Thomas Krutka brought his dog to the scene.
Anthony C. Peterson, 36, of 69 Armark Street in Springfield, was arrested on the following drug charges:
Possession of cocaine, a Class B drug, with the intent to distribute, subsequent offense;
Possession of Six 30 mg. oxycodone, a Class B drug, subsequent offense;
Possession of 20 1 mg. alprazolam (xanax), a Class E drug;
Possession of 10 bags of heroin, a Class A drug, subsequent offense;
Possession of suboxone, a Class B drug, subsequent offense.
Tools and evidence seized indicated that Peterson intended to distribute the cocaine.
Westfield Police Capt. Michael McCabe said there was a scale with residue on it, along with other paraphernalia.
Peterson was arraigned in Westfield District Court on Friday and released in lieu of $2,000 cash bail.
Peterson has a long list of drug-related convictions dating from 1997 through 2012 in Springfield District Court, Westfield District Court and Hampden Superior Court, according to court records.
His record indicates at least 10 guilty findings for possession and/or possession with intent to distribute for Class A and B drugs, including cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin and oxycodone.
Peterson is due back in Westfield District Court on February 1.
