Senior Options 2016

WESTFIELD – On Thursday April 21 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., the new Westfield Senior Center will be transformed with over thirty-five exhibitors participating in the Senior Options 2016 event. All regularly scheduled programs will be suspended for the day as the entire building will be utilized. Older adults and their family members will have a unique opportunity to discover the multitude of services available to them regarding physical and emotional health, overall safety and wellness, housing options, and active lifestyle opportunities for older adults. In addition, the Department of Transportation will be on site to assist with applications and distribution of E-Z Pass Transponders. Applicants will need their car registration, $20 to open the account (either check or credit card), and a photo identification such as a driver’s license. A sampling of the organizations that will be represented at the event include the greater Springfield area Mayor’s Office of Consumer Information, the Senior Medicare Patrol Integration Project, the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, the Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, the Westfield Fire and Police Departments, Westfield Gas & Electric, Highland Valley Elder Services, the Alzheimer’s Association, Mercy Adult Day Health Center, as well as Westfield’s assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. Lunch will be available for a nominal fee between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Local legislators will be available to discuss participants’ ideas and suggestions. A Chinese raffle will offer plenty of gift options for participants. Senior Options 2016 provides an ideal opportunity to obtain valuable information regarding an array of services available for older adults in Westfield. Information that would otherwise require dozens of telephone calls and hours of time, will be available under one roof. There is no admission fee for the event. Please note that the Senior Center will close and the doors will be locked at 2 p.m. after the event is over so that the staff can clean up and set up for Friday’s activities and programs.
