AGAWAM: Shirley Louise (Wood) Desmond, 91, a longtime resident of Southwick, died Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Country Estates in Agawam. She was born and educated in Pittsfield, and was employed for over 30 years as a CNA at Noble Hospital in Westfield from which she retired in 1970. Shirley was pre-deceased by her first husband Robert D. Scott-Smith and the late Larry Desmond. She is pre-deceased by two of her seven children (son and daughter) and is survived by five children, (two sons, three daughters), three daughter in-laws, two brothers, three sisters, 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 8 great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held on May 9th at 11:00 AM at the Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home with burial to follow at New Cemetery, both on College Highway in Southwick. A complete obituary will appear on May 6th and 7th prior to her service. Arrangements are by the Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, in Southwick.
