WESTFIELD (WWLP) – The snow and cold we’ve been having the last few days has definitely slowed things down for golfers. The lack of snow and mild temperatures we had this winter allowed a lot of people to get out and golf during most of the season.
Now that its spring, and things typically really pick up, but at East Mountain Country Club in Westfield the recent snow and cold have kept people off the course.
“There are no golfers so it has a major effect on our business, but as we spoke earlier, I can’t complain,” Ted Perez, owner of East Mountain Country Club, said. “The start of 2016 has been fabulous from the golf industry aspect, so we are a head of 2015 by a large margin.”
Perez said the golf season typically runs from the second week of April to the second week of September. There are parts of the golf course that aren’t snow covered, so it is possible to play at least some holes right now.
With warmer temperatures and the rain on the way, that snow will be disappear pretty quickly.
