WESTFIELD – Sophie Helen (Koziol) Grimaldi, 88, of Westfield died Sunday, January, 20, 2013 at Heritage Hall West in Agawam, MA. She was born on October 5, 1924 to the late John J. Koziol and Mary (Sygnator) Koziol.She was a lifelong resident of Westfield and a member of St. Joseph’s National Catholic Church. Sophie loved her family, polka dancing, getting her hair done, and the Boston Red Sox, especially former player Kevin Youkilis.
Sophie was predeceased by her husband, Charles (Chip) Grimaldi in 2008. She leaves her daughter, Charlene Berrena and her husband John; two beloved grandchildren, Anthony Berrena of Pompano Beach Florida, and Emilia Berrena of Westfield. Sophie also leaves one sister, Jean Samsel of Suffield, CT and brother, John (Doc) Koziol and his wife Phyllis of Westfield and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, Walter, and Henry (Mike) Koziol.
The funeral will be Friday, January 25, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. from Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph’s National Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Spring in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
