Sophie M. Radzick

WESTFIELD: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sophie (Sally) Sidorovic Radzick, (1923 – 2021), beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who joined her heavenly family on Jan. 22nd. Sophie was born on June 27, 1923, in her parent’s home on St. Paul St., Westfield, to Kasimer and Anna Sidorovic.

Sophie enjoyed life as a busy mother of three during much simpler times. As a stay-at-home mom until her youngest was ten, she enjoyed taking care of her family, cooking and baking, sewing, playing bingo, traveling, church activities, bus trips to casinos, and had a knack for making the Christmas holidays extra special. She also enjoyed many hours dancing with her husband, Steve, and friends at the Holyoke Turn Verein, and we all spent many happy summers at Camp Jahn in Southampton. She attended local schools, graduating from Westfield High in 1942 and was employed by White’s Quaint Shop for many years until she retired.

Sophie was predeceased by, and dearly missed her siblings, baby Peter, Walter, Helen, and Bernice. She was also predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Stephen J. Radzick in 2007. She was the devoted and loving mother to Richard Radzick (Leona), Kathy LePage (Bill), and Ann Marie Ripley (Roy). She also leaves six grandchildren, (Richard Radzick, Michael Radzick, Christopher Radzick, Jennifer Ferron, Christianne Newby, and Daniel Ripley) and eleven great-grandchildren (Grace, Gemma, Jacqui, Marissa, Michael, Andrew, Stephanie, Lana, Oliver, Marc Jacob, and Jackson) to cherish her memory. Sophie would want to thank those who took care of her in her later years, especially her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bill LePage, who took care of mom for many years before she entered the Genesis nursing home. And, a very special thank you also goes to Eileen, Lisa (Love Muffin), Zippie, Donna, Shelley, and Sammy, of Genesis, who gave mom extra special care and attention during her time there. She enjoyed and loved them all.

During the Pandemic, services will be limited to family. Arrangements are being handled by Firtion-Adams Funeral Service. Sophie will be laid to rest with her husband at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or to the Call of Molo (orphanage in Molo, Kenya) P.O. Box 1854, Westfield, MA 01086.
