SOUTHWICK – Just three days away from the Annual Southwick Fireworks on Saturday, the Southwick Civic Fund is close to reaching their fundraising goal. With a goal of raising $12,000 for the fireworks, the non-profit organization has raised well over $10,000 and are expecting a few more donations on the way to help reach their goal.
Joe Deedy, the President of the Southwick Civic Fund, wants to remind people that all money is dedicated towards the popular tradition in town.
“Every penny goes for fireworks,” said Deedy. “If we reach our goal, it goes for next year.”
If anyone still hasn’t donated yet and would like to, people can write out a check to the Southwick Civic Fund with “fireworks” in the memo and mail it to:
Southwick Civic Fund
258 Feeding Hills Rd,
Southwick MA 01077
People can also drop off their check or donation to Moolicious Farms, which is at 258 Feeding Hills Rd. Volunteers of the Southwick Civic Fund will be seen with donation buckets prior to the fireworks on Saturday by Whalley park and Legion Road to accept donations for next year’s fireworks.
Although the fireworks will start around 9 p.m. at American Legion Post 338, the festivities on Saturday will begin at 6 p.m. Free parking will be available at Whalley Park, once that lot is full, people can park at the Southwick Park and Recreation Center.
According to Deedy, there will be multiple food vendors along with a disc jockey, pony rides, a bounce house, and a bonfire, all located near the pavilion at Whalley Park. Deedy is looking forward to seeing the main event.
“I’ll be very happy when that first firecracker goes up,” said Deedy.
The Southwick Civic Fund noted that the best suggested area for viewing the fireworks is from Whalley Park or near the motocross bleachers.
