SOUTHWICK – Southwick Grange 46 is looking to add more events to offer to their members. Located on 580 College Hwy, the Grange currently holds bingo every Thursday night and their banquet hall is available to be rented out for birthday parties, anniversaries, and other similar activities.
According to Grange Master Butch LaBombard, there’s an interest to bring more events to the organization.
“We just want to get something that people would participate in,” said LaBombard. “We’re reaching out to the public to get some ideas.”
Thus far, ideas from members have included scrabble and pitch leagues. More ideas are highly suggested as LaBombard wants to see the building used to the fullest.
“We hate to see it go to waste,” said LaBombard.
This past August, the Grange was in jeopardy of closing its doors due to a lack of members. The Grange has remained open as a result of a unanimous vote by the members.
Having 12 active members, LaBombard would love to see an increase in members since he believes the organization can be a fun attraction for residents in Southwick.
“We want to get it out there that we’re here,” said LaBombard.
If anyone is interested in joining the organization, you are encouraged to attend a meeting, which is held at the Grange on the last Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. You can also contact LaBombard at 413-531-2837. It costs $30 a year in order to secure a membership.
