SOUTHWICK – During Tuesday night’s Select Board meeting, the board discussed a proposed feasibility study. The study will be a line item under the municipal budget at the upcoming annual town meeting on May 15.
The feasibility study will consist of evaluating the conditions of all municipal buildings in town excluding any school buildings, since the school district has conducted their own feasibility study.
According to Town of Southwick Chief Administrative Officer Karl Stinehart, the evaluations could feature looking at roofs, windows, doors, elevators, heating, air conditioning, and more.
“This way, we’re not going to start looking at things individually,” said Stinehart. We’re going to give a bigger picture look.”
Along with the board, Bob Johnson, the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds for the town, was on board with the study.
“The study is to bring us up to date on what the buildings need done,” said Johnson.
The main buildings that will be included in the study will be the town hall, Department of Public Works, police and fire departments, Whalley Park, the town beach, and the public library.
