SOUTHWICK – At approximately 3:11 a.m. Tuesday morning, a Southwick resident was brought to Noble Hospital after he suffered a gun-shot wound.
Baystate Noble Hospital called the Westfield Police Department, and after establishing that the incident occurred in Southwick, Southwick Police were called in to investigate.
Southwick Sgt. Det. Tom Krutka spoke to the gun shot victim and found that the victim and Joseph Munroe, both living on 151 Sheep Pasture Rd. in Southwick, were consuming alcohol at at their residence when the two males proceeded to get into a physical confrontation which eventually was broken up. At about 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, the two individuals got into another altercation and resulted in Munroe firing a gun and leaving the victim with a gun-shot wound on his left hip.
According to Krutka, the victim didn’t believe the wound was bad until he went to bed. The victim has now been released from Baystate Medical Center and is in good condition.
Krutka added that there is a warrant out for Munroe’s arrest. Lt. Robert Landis wants to let the public know that he doesn’t believe Munroe to be a threat.
“We believe the incident was isolated to the parties involved and we don’t see that he’s a threat to the public,” said Landis.
