BLANDFORD– The Blandford Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 139 North Blandford Rd. around 9:50 p.m. on Saturday night,
According to the Blandford Fire Department, flames spread throughout the house, but all three residents and a dog were able to get out of the home and avoid injury. The American Red Cross came to the aid of the family.
A number of neighboring departments including Becket, Otis, Chester, and Russell, all provided tankers and personnel to the Blandford Fire Dept. A rehabilitation bus was brought by the Hinsdale Fire Department so firefighters could take a breather from the temperatures as wind chills were below zero degrees.
The departments were on scene until approximately 1:30 a.m. on Sunday morning and returned to the scene at 5 a.m. to handle smoldering debris.
The conclusion was made that there was a complete loss to the structure of the home. The State Fire Marshalls Office will be investigating as to what the cause is of the fire.
