BOSTON – Governor Charlie Baker this week appointed new members of the boards of trustees for public colleges and universities in Massachusetts, including Edward Sullivan, appointed to the Board of Westfield State University.
“As leaders in the private, non-profit, and public sectors, I congratulate all the trustees on their new roles and thank them for their willingness to serve the Commonwealth,” said Baker. “We rely on their expertise and leadership in their communities to be strong stewards of our institutions of higher education.”
“I’m thrilled to welcome these leaders to the boards, but recognize that many of them are already well known by their contributions to education,” said Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito. “With nearly 300,000 students on 29 campuses, our system of higher education has an important role to play in ensuring that these institutions prepare the students to meet the workforce needs of the future.”
“I look forward to working with all trustees as we ensure that students are getting the maximum value out of their education,” said Education Secretary Jim Peyser. “I thank all of the outgoing trustees for their service and contributions to our public higher education boards.”
