SOUTHWICK – This Thanksgiving, for the third year in a row, the Deedy and Magni families will provide Thanksgiving For All.
While most people are surrounded by family and friends eating a turkey dinner that day, there are others who have little to no food, and often few people to share it with. To make the holiday brighter for those in need of a meal and some company, Joe and Kristi Deedy, owners of Moolicious Farm and Ice-Cream on Feeding Hills Road, will open their doors at 1 p.m. to give a free Thanksgiving meal to anyone who needs one.
“This is for anybody,” said Joe. “It’s for anyone who needs a meal or a place to go or just can no longer cook.”
Kelly Magni will cook the turkeys, most of which are being donated by local families, for the meal. Tucker’s Restaurant provides the squash – which Kristi said is out of this world – and Roma Restaurant donates bread for the meal. Thanksgiving For All includes all the trimmings you’d expect, including dessert.
“We work with the Senior Center and Food Pantry to reach out to people, and we provide Meals On Wheels, too,” said Joe, adding that the Pendleton family will deliver Thanksgiving meals to seniors again this year.
“We have already been getting reservations,” Kristi said of the dinner.
Anyone wishing to participate in the meal should reserve their table through the Council On Aging at (413) 569-5498, Southwick Our Family Table Food Pantry at (413) 569-9876, or Moolicious at (413) 569-1700.
