WESTFIELD – 
Thomas J. Preuss, 69, (1947-2017) of Westfield, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on February 9, 2017. Thomas was born on July 24, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Robert and Ann (Mulcahy) Preuss. Thomas was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army. He was an operations manager at Jani-King for over 15 years before retiring. He enjoyed police ride-alongs, volunteering at the Westfield Police Department and the Community Police Center. He was an avid fisherman, had a good poker hand on family card nights, loved playing softball in his younger years, and most recently in retirement his new love was metal detecting. Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years Kathie (Monfette) Preuss of Westfield. He was the loving father to Shelley Schulz and her fiancée Shawn Chaney of Merriam, KS, Tom Preuss and his wife Jennifer of Westfield, Courtney Allan and husband Jeffrey of Feeding Hills, Matthew Preuss and his wife Katelyn of Westfield, and Katelyn Marx of Westfield. He was the cherished “Papa” to Josh, CJ, Tessa, Jackson, Lilah, Leighton, Camden, Cameron, and soon to arrive Emma. He was the caring brother to Martha Wilcox of MO, and brother in law to Chip Cilio, Margaret Monterosso, and Patrice Dennis. He will be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, and to all who knew him. Thomas is preceded in death by his brother John Preuss and his sister Mary Ellen Schallenberg.
Calling hours for Thomas will be Tuesday from 4-7pm at Westfield Funeral Home and Cremation, 4 Princeton Street, Westfield, MA. The funeral will be Wednesday at the funeral home at 8AM. Burial with full military honors will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA.
