WESTFIELD: Thomas R. Barnet, 71, passed away at home July 13, 2021. He was born in Westfield, MA to the late George and Jenny Barnet. He attended Westfield Schools. After leaving there, he worked at several local businesses and spent many years in the oil industry in Cody, Montana. Tom was a hard worker with a very big heart. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone at any time with no questions asked. He loved to help people. He also loved his dogs and he bonded with many furry friends over the years. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and especially his neighbors at Alice Burke Way.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Jean Cinq-Mars, Geraldine Ritchie, Ethel Birdsall and 3 nephews. He leaves behind his children, Harmony Cornett of Bethany, MO, his son Thomas Barnet, Jr. of Independence, MO and 4 grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brothers George (Billy) Barnet (Linda) and Lyman Barnet (Anne) both of Westfield and his sisters Carol Arthur from Orlando, FL and Georgianna Senecal from Ocoee, FL. He also leaves his ex-wife, Terry Lagerberg and her two children, Ben and Sarah, many nieces and nephews and good friend Dave Flynn.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 19th at 11 am at St. Joseph’s Cemetery on Southampton Rd., Westfield. Immediately following the service there will be a gathering of family and friends at the Moose Club on 56 Washington St., Westfield. In Tom’s memory, please be kind to each other as he always did, help people when you can. Keep his legacy alive by showing your family and friends love through service. We love you Tom.
