WESTFIELD – Thomas W. Florek, 77, passed away Friday, May 24, 2013, following a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
He was a man of bravery, as exemplified by his years of Military service and as an officer with the Westfield Police Department; but Tommy (as he was known) will be best remembered as a loving and selfless man who treasured his family and friends beyond words.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Florek; his daughter, Amanda Florek; his two sons, Stephen Briggs and his wife Denise and Douglas Briggs and his wife Dina; his granddaughter, Adrienne Briggs; his three brothers and their wives, John and Jessica Florek, William and Jean Florek and Charles and Bernice Florek; his sister-in-law, Eileen Florek; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA. A chapel service with Military Honors will be held on Thursday, May 30th at 10:00 a.m. in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tommy’s name to The Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA, 01040.
