WESTFIELD – Timothy William Phelon, 25, died August 10, 2017 after a yearlong battle with a rare form of lung cancer caused by a genetic mutation. Tim was born on September 1, 1991 and lived in Westfield his entire life. He played youth baseball and hockey for local teams and went hunting with his brother Scott and a group of friends in Windsor, MA as soon as he was old enough. He was a member of the local 4-H club and showed his dairy cattle at the area fairs. Tim graduated from Westfield High School having played Varsity Baseball for two years and then completed his degree in Biology at Westfield State University. Tim enjoyed working summers for MA DCR at State Parks, beginning as a laborer & working his way up to Supervisor. In the winter he was a skate guard at Amelia Park Ice Arena where he also played in their Ice Hockey & Dek Hockey leagues. Tim was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Leonard, Margaret & Vera (Bartley) Phelon and his godfather James Phelon. He leaves his maternal grandparents Jane & Charles Machado; his parents Bill & Sue Phelon; his brother Scott Phelon & his wife Courtney; his sister Kelly Lucas & her husband Chris; his nephews Theodore & William Phelon and his godson Charlie Lucas. He will also be missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins & friends and most especially by his dog Hannah.
Visiting hours will be on Monday, August 14, from 12:30 to 2 pm at Firtion-Adams Funeral Home on Broad Street in Westfield followed immediately by a funeral mass at 2:30 pm at Saint Peter & Saint Casimir Church on State Street in Westfield. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
