To the Editor

Hello Ward 3, and all of Westfield…sorry for the delay, computer down, but thanks to WTA’s Tiger Tech (Mathew) we’re back in working order, and those who follow my edits can ease up on when is next edit going to be there.

To start I want to thank Councilor at Large Dave Flaherty for the correction. I have no problem being imperfect, and thus willing to correct my errors. I will be meeting with an old friend who works for the Sec. of State’s Office to come up with the correct format to enable the Council to have more control on the budget. But, my point is still: if you want less control by the Mayor, get it on the ballot, and submit to our legislature. We have done it before and we can do it again. I prefer the balance so as to compel cooperation and compromises, fundamental to our American system of government in problem solving. This, versus the current Fed model of one side imposing the interests of one group of Americans on all the others. While slick, nothing new. Most times that this happens we go into a crisis that costs us more than we gain. BUT, my reason for pointing this out was how Councilor Flaherty presented his point. It was done with civil courtesy. And, for that I wish to thank him. It getting rare to have that kind of response. But, I do think that water is more important than road work. And, so do a number of people that have approached me about this conflict. They are ticked. And, they are not just the voters of Ward 1.

Another concern regarding this issue is that city has entered into a law suit with 3M to pay form the damages, along with getting the fed to cover their end of this. Other places have had this problem and the Fed/Air Force have come through. But, by what is being publically said by our officials….my concern is that it can feed 3M’s case…not good.

Lastly, I did attend the March For Our Lives event in Springfield. I had time to chat with a lot of people, and they were surprised by the turn out…it well exceeded their expectations. There was a good size group from Westfield too. And, as with the other gatherings, organized by students; it was peaceful, and responsible in their presentation. One correction needs to be made: they are NOT attacking the 2nd Amendment. We have the Right to Bear Arms, but nothing is said about what kind of arms. Again, in defense our homes, or for hunting but what kind of arms does that take? They are focused on reasonable and RESPONSIBLE gun ownership. Not the kind to prepare to go to war to overthrow the government, or for a Race War. And, not in case of invasion. This is not the 19th century. That kind of invasion is more likely by cyber, and robotic drones. I can understand being afraid, and insecure in this world, but THINK. Are you solving the problems or making them worse? A lot of people have a lot of reasons for their concerns especially with the kind of brainwashing exercise of REALLY FAKE NEWS created by the Russians to take out America by other Americans thus by remote control.  Enough for now, write you soon, as the number of issues to be addressed are increasing.
