Hello Ward 3, and all of Westfield…Did you respect your mother, Earth, this past Sunday? If you believe that having clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, clean earth to grow non-toxic plants and raise non-toxic animals is important to you, then where were you? Is this, all about the money world, where regardless of what they say, life really does not matter much, at least not as much as making wealth. It is again up to us, the MANY everyday Americans to once again work together just as our original New World Americans did to take back our civic authority as citizens.
A couple of issues I want to address to the City Council are: 1. How can we get rid of all those nip bottles that are everywhere? 2. Can they get a gate to the access route to Whitney Park? As said before I am too often seeing dumping of construction materials and with the campfires in the woods season is almost upon us. Also to US in general…we messed up with the voting down of the ballot question to stop plastic waste. That too is still very evident for all of you who take a walk in our parks. Take Allen Park, the pond is disgusting with plastic and other things. This year for conservationist is to deal with this on a global scale. One of those plastic islands in the Pacific Ocean is 3 times the size of Texas. This goes into the water; fish live in water, and a lot of us like fish. But, it is not just the oceans, but also our lakes, and ponds too. After all the money spent to clean up our rivers, they too are again getting polluted. Oh I thought you said we need clean water? And, lastly on this subject…how often do you read, or hear on the news of re-calls of food that are toxic to us? Whether tons of beef killed only to be thrown away, pigs, and chickens too; eggs, vegetables, sea food….OK, let’s down size environmental protections… hey it adds to your tax break; but aren’t you going to pay for this in other ways? Or, are you going to have to test all the food you buy before you eat it? Are we back to the 1920’s and “The Jungle”…but instead of stock yards it is America’s farms? Deregulation isn’t so wonderful when you really think about it… But, do not act in haste as what they did then hurt the good small/family producers, and rewarded the big and worse offenders. They were able to adapt to the new rules from all the ill-gotten toxic foods they were producing. Mammon can be a terrible god.
Warning…Over the past couple of weeks I have received 2 scam E-mailings, and prior 2 scam letters. The Emails were about disparities in my bank account with Bank of America, and then, disparities with my account with Wells Fargo account. That I should check and correct any in error information. Right! I had an account with Bank of America, but quit it about 10 years ago, and I did have my home loan with Wells Fargo, oh at least 8 years ago when I quit them. Kind of knew this was a scam… The letters were about getting additional auto service care, but the content was full of errors. All of this I did share with Westfield PD, to warn of active scams in the area. But, I figure I would also share it with you as I read of so many being hit by scams in the newspaper and on T.V. Pay back from you: Have any of you had a problem with Noble Hospital and affiliates? I have had a real hard time getting my refills done on some serious meds. My pharmacy (Rite Aid) have gone way out of their way to contact and re-contact, and contact the doctor again. I have mailed them, and got no response. As many of you know, due my premature retirement, my financial resources are very limited, and either help sources, even my Union, either did not respond, or told me to get a lawyer. Not on my income… And, that as a part of my premature retiring was motivated by the development of depression, you guessed it one of the meds is for depression. I did contact the Attorney General’s Office so that is wait and see. Where is Equal Justice under the Law? Or, is it only if you got the money?
Which reminds me to share a thought…Citizens United says that corporations are people, as such, entitled to the same Rights as people, regardless of the billions in the bank. OK, what about us having the same Rights as Corporations? Rights as to pass on expenses to the consumer, or to the tax payer. To be subsidized, and supplemented by local, state and federal government, i.e. taxes; even though still with billions or more in wealth. Maybe we, 1,000aires should start a movement to have those same Rights? Oh, that’s Right, if every day poor or limited income folks need these it is that terrible, bad for the economy welfare, but if wanted by billion and trillionaires it is good for the economy. When I hear everyday people pleading to help the poor billionaires, what are they smoking with cannabis is still not fully legal. No wonder the Fed wants to keep it illegal; why share what they are smoking… Sorry for the sarcasm but when it is earned… Again for the fake Conservatives this is not what Hamilton, and the original Federalists believed. Enough for now, feedback welcomed your Former Ward 3 City Councilor, Brian Hoose. [email protected]
